Trails Reopen at the Craftsbury Academy Woodlot

This winter, students from the Green Mountain Technical Career Center (GMTCC) Forestry Program began a harvest at the Craftsbury Academy Woodlot on Wylie Hill Road. Work began in late January and completed for the year last week as students transitioned to sugaring at the Hazen Union campus. Their work will resume next fall to complete the harvest in the pine plantation near the parking area. Students will be implementing the silvicultural prescription described within the CA Woodlot Forest Management Plan.

Students harvested trees marked for removal with blue paint by the Orleans County Forester. All trails that were closed during management activities are now open. While walking through the pines, take a moment to enjoy their careful and thoughtful work to improve the health of this forest.
