Purpose

The Craftsbury Schools Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) connects, supports and advocates the needs and priorities of the families and teachers in the Craftsbury school community:

  • Provide easy and accessible ways for parents and teachers to learn about and provide feedback on critical school issues
  • Compile and share feedback with the Craftsbury Schools community as a whole
  • Represent and advocate for the family/teacher community at the school and district administrative levels
  • Provide easy and accessible ways for families to show appreciation for teachers and staff
  • Coordinate school community-wide discussions/activities in response to urgent needs
  • Coordinate fundraising to support programs/activities that aren't covered by the school budget

The PTO strives to represent the entire Craftsbury school community. We encourage all families, caregivers, and teachers of Craftsbury students to engage in the way(s) that work for them!

2023-2024 Projects YTD

  • Compost for Academy Garden

  • Partial funding of two new basketball hoops at Academy Playground 

  • Partial funding for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade Hosmer Point Fall/Spring Field Trips

ENGAGEMENT

  • Monthly evening meetings; meetings are held periodically throughout the year at the Academy

  • Monthly meetings, children welcome

  • Logistical support for occasional fundraising events

  • Monetary/in-kind donation to support programs/activities not covered by the school budget

  • Occasional admin support for PTO activities (sending emails, printing/collecting surveys)

  • Regular admin support for PTO activities (sending emails, printing/collecting surveys)

Projects

The PTO facilitates regular communication and collaboration within our school community. Additional projects are driven by the needs and priorities of the school community, and have included:

  • Supporting school field trips
  • Community calendars
  • A Health & Wellness Fair
  • Staff appreciation events & gifts
  • Fundraising & grant writing
