School Covid-19 Testing

The State of Vermont is no longer supplying schools with COVID-19 test kits.  This program will continue only while supplies last. Testing is offered based on clinical judgment after assessment by the school nurse, and is offered to symptomatic individuals only. Your student will never be tested without your permission.  Due to limited supplies, we are no longer able to provide test kits for home use.

When to Stay home; When to come to school Covid-19 Guidelines

Please refer to the When to Stay Home; When to Come to School online document for current COVID-19 guidelines. This guide is updated periodically to reflect the most current guidance from the CDC, the VT Department of Health, and the VT Agency of Education.

COVID-19 Vaccination Information

Still need to get vaccinated? The Vermont Department of Health offers vaccinations in many locations around the state and has many resources for COVID-19 vaccine information, including online vaccination registration.

Covid-19 Health Forms and Sports Clearance Forms

For our student athletes ages 12 and up, the VCHIP Return to Play after COVID-19 form must be completed by your child’s primary care provider before returning to athletics after a positive COVID-19 test, regardless of symptoms or severity of illness.

For the 2023/2024 school year, OSSU will continue to provide masks and hand sanitizer for anyone who needs them. We will remain a Mask Friendly environment, but we will respect each individual’s personal choice on masking. If a child tests positive at school, or has symptoms of respiratory illness, the school nurse may decide it is prudent for the child to wear a mask until picked up.

Hand Hygiene: Regular hand washing should occur throughout the school day, following proper washing techniques (minimum of 20 seconds). Hand sanitizer dispensers are available in all school buildings for students to use when hand washing is not possible.

Cleaning Protocols: OSSU uses approved cleaning products that are effective against common viruses and bacteria, including the COVID-19 virus. Custodial staff clean frequently touched surfaces daily. Areas where illness is present or increasing will receive additional cleaning and disinfecting.

Facility Improvements: OSSU has taken measures to increase air filtration and purification in our buildings, and projects are underway in every building to increase the delivery of fresh air.
