Schools and district offices are closed on Monday, January 19, in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Concrete School District remains on a 2-hour late start today. School starts at 10:30AM. No breakfast will be served.
We are planning on a 2-hour late start on Wednesday, December 17, with school beginning at 10:30 a.m., to allow time to assess road conditions before transportation begins.
If this plan changes to a school closure, families will be notified by 8:00 a.m.
We recognize that some families and staff are still evacuated or managing flooding impacts and other weather-related issues such as downed trees and mudslides. We want students back in school for normalcy while continuing to prioritize safety.
Wednesday details:
If a closure is necessary by 8:00 a.m., there will be no NCTA transportation and no extracurricular activities.
Thank you for your continued patience and understanding.
After previously communicating that we would operate on a 2-hour late start, Concrete School District is now canceling school for both Monday, December 15 and Tuesday, December 16.
This decision is based on ongoing safety concerns, including:
Given these conditions, we are not able to safely operate schools at this time.
For both days:
Please prioritize your safety and do what is best for your family. Continue to follow guidance from local emergency management officials.
We will continue to monitor conditions and share updates as information becomes available.
Stay safe.
Due to the ongoing flood watch, possible high winds, and other weather-related issues affecting our area, Concrete School District will operate on a 2-hour late start on Monday, December 15, with school starting at 10:30 a.m.
Important details for Monday:
These schedule and transportation adjustments are being made to ensure that transportation staff, student drivers, and families are able to travel during daylight hours as conditions continue to evolve.
We will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as needed. Thank you for your understanding and flexibility.
The Skagit River has now crested in the Concrete area. While this is a positive development, we know there has been significant damage, some roads remain unpassable, and some families are still without power. Our thoughts are with everyone in our community as we continue to navigate the impacts of this event.
As previously communicated, Concrete School District is closed today, and there are no extracurricular or after-school activities.
The following school-related events scheduled for Saturday, December 13, are canceled:
At this time, we plan for Monday to be a regular school day. Some roads remain unpassable, which may require slight changes to some bus routes; families will be notified on Sunday if this applies to them. In addition, a new weather system is expected beginning Sunday night. If this impacts our families, school hours, or extracurricular activities, we will communicate updates as soon as possible.
Updates will continue to be shared through our website, ParentSquare, and Facebook.
The evacuation shelter will be closing today, as it is no longer needed at this time.
We extend a huge thank you to Diane Bergsma for organizing shelter coverage, and to the Boys & Girls Club staff and members of the Concrete Resource Coalition who stepped up to staff the shelter. Thank you as well to Claus Joens, Marla Reed, Paul Carter, and other staff members who helped plan and prepare for the shelter, and to Marla Reed and Delaine VanderLinden for cooking.
Thank you to all who helped plan, prepare, and support this effort.
