High school junior Alexander Califano represented Craftsbury Academy and OSSU on Saturday, February 11, at Senator Sanders' roundtable discussion at the State House for the finalists of his annual State of the Union Essay contest. Selected by Senator Sanders as a finalist, Alexander wrote about the cases pending before the Supreme Court seeking to ban Affirmative Action and the need for Congress to take action to ensure that colleges and universities maintain the ability to construct classes that reflect the diversity of our nation as whole. Each finalist’s essay will be entered by Senator Sanders into the Congressional Record, the official archive of the U.S. Congress.
