We believe learning happens best when students engage the world around them. Here are just a few experiences that we have used to build critical thinking, environmental stewardship, and civic responsibility.
Chess During the School Day? Check! – During many months throughout the school year, middle school students participate in chess twice weekly with optional after-school club participation. Craftsbury Middle School brought home the Vermont State Championship trophy at the annual state chess tournament in both 2024 and 2025.
Environmental Education – In the fall each school year, our middle school team (students and staff together!) travels off campus for a week of environmental education and community building.
Craftsbury Academy hosts Candidates Debate – In 2024, middle school students engaged with the democratic process, composing questions and helping to moderate a community debate between candidates vying for a vacant state Senate seat.
